1st album of this finnish band that plays a crushingly heavy type of Death Metal with a dark and eerie atmosphere inspired by bands like ABHORRENCE (fin), BOLT THROWER, ASPHYX, DERKETA, RIPPIKOULU, GRAVE, INCANTATION, ROTTREVORE... and in general getting inspiration from 90's Death Metal.
www.hellthrasher.com www.facebook.com/hellthrasher.prod Profound Lore Records has issued the details for the impending third full-length album by Vancouver, British Columbia-based death metal faction, AUROCH. The most unfathomably devastating works to see release yet have been captured on the band's unrelenting Mute Books LP. Enveloping shadow of dark death metal chaos looms with AUROCH's third full-length album, Mute Books, which will reveal itself as the band's darkest, most brutal, complex, and musically virulent release to date. Carrying the innovative Canadian death metal tradition laid down by the likes of early-'90s Gorguts, Cryptopsy and Kataklysm, and more recently through the likes of Mitochondrion and Chthe'ilist, the songwriting on Mute Books reaches a new plateau in technicality and over-the-top dynamics along with a new achievement in production and sound. Recorded at Raincity Recorders (Baptists, Japandroids, White Lung), Mute Books was mixed and mastered byArthur Rizk (Prurient, Inquisition, Pissgrave, Black Twilight Circle, Power Trip), AUROCH has cast their most ferocious undertaking yet; one of the darkest, most violent, whirlwind-like bizarre monuments of alchemic death metal of the year. Mute Books features expansive cover art by Cold Poison Design; each format of the album will feature the artwork in different aspects. Profound Lore Records will release Mute Books on CD, LP, cassette, and digital formats on October 21st. A preview of the artwork, the track listing, and more have been issued, with audio samples and more to follow in the coming weeks. Mute Books Track Listing: 1. Billowing Vervain 2. He Wreaths The Cross 3. Say Nothing 4. Tipharethagirion 5. The Keeping 6. Her Bidding 7. Cyclopean Eye Productions from India will take care of the CD and Dark Descent Records from USA will do the vinyl version.
Enjoy the great artwork in the meantime. This week German Sludge/Drone band Black Shape of Nexus announced their last show and their end. A real pitty, as I really enjoyed their music, and I had just received their last two releases.
So I decided to recover an interview I did with them when they released what is still my favorite album of B.SON, 'Microbarone Meetings'. Find the interview in this link. And discover their music now if you didn't while they were still alive: blackshapeofnexus.bandcamp.com Gia Thanatos is one more of many incarnations under different names and formats (digital and physical) of what has been my urge and need to express all things I feel when listening to various forms of music which make this miserable life a lot less hollow. That as well as the questions that arise while doing it (and the occasional answers I get from the bands that decide to kindly lend me their time).
To start with it I'll be publishing interviews that either were not published due to the disappearance of the medium they were aimed for, or were never published in English. And further on, or in the meanwhile, I'll try to work on new materials, not to get stuck in the past. Because of that and, at the same time due to my taste for more or less what we could include into what is usually described as dark, extreme, violent or oppressive music, I will not limit this publication to a very strict musical field, although some genres will probably be more present than others. Finally, and to avoid both confusion and questions about it, I will focus my writings on bands, labels, scenes (persons or collectives in sum) I enjoy, follow and/or respect, so I'll either base my work on records I buy or I listen to through online mediums supplied by their creators/distributors. This means I won't be reviewing stuff I don't care about or I don't even know just to support whoever it is, nor I will accept/be interested in promotional material except in the case it matches my personal taste. To conclude this, I just hope you find something of your interest in these pages, and thank you in advance for paying attention to it. |
