Norwegian black metal icons MAYHEM are celebrating the release of their 1994 landmark De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas full-length with tours across the globe. This coming January, the band will march their way across North America performing the record in its monumental entirety.
In conjunction with their many live appearances, MAYHEM will also release De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas Alive on December 15th, 2016. The album was captured live in Norrköping, Sweden last year during the band's headlining set at the Black Christmass Festival. The show marked MAYHEM's first time ever playing De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas in full. Notes the band of first single "From The Dark Past," "'From The Dark Past' has not been played many times live before, yet is in many ways an archetypical song from the band, containing key elements that are scattered throughout the rest of the album - blizzard blast beats and eerie atmospherics, all of course adorned by vocalist Attila Csihar's unique voice within the genre. De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas is widely considered one of the most influential black metal albums of all time, and this is the first time in history this classic album from 1994 is performed live in its entirety." De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas Alive was recorded, mixed and mastered by Tore Stjerna and NBS Audio and produced by Csihar and guitarist Teloch with light production by Anne Weckstrom, stage design and production by Jonas Svensson, video recording by Thornfields Production and video editing by Tamàs Tarczi. The celebratory release will come available on CD, LP, and DVD (the first 1000 copies are numbered) as well as digitally on December 15th, 2016.

IRON BONEHEAD PRODUCTIONS is proud to present BÖLZER's massively anticipated debut album, Hero. Hailing from Switzerland, BÖLZER are one of the most unique entities the metal underground has birthed in years. For one, BÖLZER are proudly and resolutely a duo, using the barest essentials of voice, guitar, and drums and yet creating one of the densest, most world-eating sounds around. For another, the duo have wisely and patiently parceled out their recordings, with a lone nine songs to date across three records - 2012's Roman Acupuncture demo, 2013's IRON BONEHEAD-released Aura EP, and 2014's Soma EP - judiciously chronicling the band's evolution into one of the most critically acclaimed metal bands in recent memory. And yet, "critical acclaim" has never been a part of BÖLZER's agenda: their commitment is to their art alone, but it just so happens that word-of-mouth built organically (and feverishly), especially on the strength of their devastating, soul-draining live performances, where they can recreate every aspect of their records in the flesh.
And at long last, flesh is given to a full-length album, and it bears the characteristically idiosyncratic title Hero. Here, in many ways, BÖLZER break from their past. Rich 'n' resonant clean vocals often take center stage, lending an alternately mournful/majestic quality to the duo's earth-juddering bulldoze. Likewise, the production across Hero is categorically cleaner than their grime-coated EPs, which dynamically enhances the spiraling melodicism that explodes into being here. Suitably, the songwriting itself takes on dazzling new contours, wending 'n' winding with even more fluidity - and certainly more daring - than the band's epic-yet-effortless EPs. And yet, for however seemingly radical these developments are - ultimately, they shouldn't be that "radical" in the hands of capable and sincere artisans - it all sounds like BÖLZER, both what they were, what they can be, and most especially, what they currently are. Every aesthetic suggestion, every subtle nuance, every thing left unsaid in the past: here on Hero, it's all harnessed into a molten maelstrom that's ever more unique (and alien) because it's unshackled itself from expectation. It is, in a word, heroic. But what is the meaning of Hero? Discover for yourself, plunge into that maelstrom, and let BÖLZER be your guide. C REX's highly anticipated fourth album, "Tulen Jumalat", will be out on Saturnal Records on Feb 3rd, 2017.
Orbiting around vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Artifex IC, IC Rex forged three full-length albums during its first era of activity, the years 2003-2011, from which especially Sielun Kadotuksen Sinfonia (2005) and Valonkantajan Alkemia (2011) carved a deep niche in the canon of what is widely known as Finnish black metal, before quietly calling it a day. A statement at the time simply said, "IC Rex has no plans to make any new manifestations, yet we are in the process of transformation and renewal. For certain, the story and the Great Work of the Ages will continue in another form." Alas, after a few years' break and absolute silence, it came in another form as IC Rex started gradually activating itself in 2015 for Liber Saturni: Apochryphon Of Saturnian Rex, a split release with fellow Finnish occultists Saturnian Mist which served as a stark omen of grandiose things to come. Now, IC Rex, known for profound devotion towards esoteric mysteries of the Left-hand Path and majestic soundscapes, marks a return with the mystical miasma that is Tulen Jumalat. Here, sounding more renewed and energized than ever, IC Rex creates a dizzy 'n' daring maelstrom of black metal classicism shot through with that unique touch of the otherworldly only Artifex IC can provide. Terms like "symphonic" and "majestic" are mere triflings when faced with the dense soundpool of Tulen Jumalat: verily, it is the sonic embodiment of the "Luciferian Alchemy" of which Artifex IC simply suggested on his second album. Its swirling, bewitching gnosis fully embraces the Luciferian archetype IC Rex has approached in the past, but this time brimming with the divine intellectual fire that can only spring forth from studious years of fine-tuning and self-reflection. Forged in the chambers of Blackvox Studio, Tulen Jumalat also explodes from the speakers with a clarity yet heard from this entity, all whilst emitting the arcane elegance for which IC Rex has been known the past decade. Altogether, Tulen Jumalat is that promised Great Work of the Ages and the full manifestation of transformation and renewal. Will you stand intrepid before the Gods of Fire? Its reactivated Dutch protagonist, Marco Kehren, has set "Ode To Acts Of Murder, Dystopia And Suicide" as the title of the long-awaited new album.
Marco entered Spacelab Studio in Grefrath, Germany with Christian Moos a few weeks ago to begin recordings for his 8th album, the band's first release since "Warfare Machines" released on 2007. Steve Wolz (Bethlehem) will play the drums as it was for "Insomia" album. "Ode To Acts Of Murder, Dystopia And Suicide" will be released worldwide for My Kingdom Music on October 2017. My Kingdom Music will also re-release the band's back catalogue, including the classic "Deinonychus" and "Ark Of Thought" out of catalogue from many years. Marco Kehren comments: "After the recordings of "Warfare Machines" back in 2006 I felt things spinning downwards as for my involvement with Deinonychus, so just one year after its release, I decided to put things to rest in September 2008. That was the time when I started with Nihil Novi Sub Sole doing something closer to Martial / Industrial music. After releasing one album with Nihil Novi Sub Sole in 2010, I was about to get things together with Deinonychus again, but for several reasons it just didn't come of the ground, it just didn't feel like being the right moment... I just hadn't got back that vibe which I had years before. However things have evolved eversince, and in early 2016 I decided to pick up things again in a serious matter and speeding up any efforts necessary to get Deinonychus back on track. So early 2016 a start was made in composing a new Deinonychus album. For the new album we are recording drums with Steve Wolz (Bethlehem). The album recordings process will be finished by the beginning of the new year at the Klangschmiede Studio under the guidance of Markus Stock (The Vision Bleak / Empyrium). Then we'll take care of the process of mixing and mastering that will lead me and my always present label My Kingdom Music to the release of this new album in the fall 2017. I have invested my soul in this album, and I'm certain you'll get in your hands the best, powerful and mournful DEINONYCHUS music you have ever listened to". |
